THE FACULTY OF PHARMACY
Training of specialists in the field of Pharmacy at the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University was launched in 1999 on the initiative of the then rector, academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine E.M. Neika. Due to its enthusiasm and creative energy, the INMU has taken a prominent place in a cohort of educational institutions trained by specialists in the pharmaceutical industry for a short period of time. The first dean of the pharmaceutical faculty was Professor A.O. Klymenka. Subsequently, in this post, he was replaced by associate professor A.O. Stetskiv. Since 2005, the Dean of the Pharmaceutical Faculty has been occupied by Professor M.I. Moyseenko. During the 16 academic years of the pharmaceutical faculty, an appropriate material, educational and scientific base was created for the preparation of high-quality specialists for the pharmaceutical industry of Ukraine. In 2002, a separate building of the pharmaceutical faculty was built, a training and production pharmacy was created.
In a short time the professorial teaching staff was formed, equipped with educational audiences and scientific laboratories, educational-methodical complexes were created on all disciplines, a transition to a credit-modular system of training was made.
The correspondence form of education is functioning at the faculty next to the full-time. The term of study is 5.5 years. For graduates of higher medical and medical institutions of I-II levels of accreditation – 4,5 years. As of 01.12.2016, the total number of students at the faculty is 760 (including 225 full-time and 535 correspondence forms of study). During the period of the Faculty’s work, 13 issues of specialists in the field of Pharmacy were carried out, with a total of 1681, which received the qualification “Provizor”. A number of masters of pharmacy have been trained.
The INMU pays great attention to the practical training of specialists. The faculty has established educational and practical centers – laboratories of practical pharmacy, the main purpose of which is to acquire students basic practical skills in the specialty “Pharmacy”. Thus, the Laboratory of Practical Pharmacy No. 1 forms practical skills in disciplines: “Pharmaceutical Botany”, “Pharmacognosy”, “Resource Science of Medicinal Plants”. There are 5 workstations in it, where students can prepare for practical classes. Laboratory of Practical Pharmacy No. 2 forms practical skills in the discipline: “Pharmaceutical Chemistry”, “Standardization of Medicines”. There are 4 jobs in it. The two above labs are located at the pharmacy department.
At the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy and Technology of Medicine, there are also two laboratories – No. 3 and No. 5. The Laboratory of Practical Pharmacy No. 3 forms practical skills in disciplines: Pharmacy Technology of Medicines, Industrial Technology of Medicines, Technology of Cosmetic Medicines, and Biopharmaceuticals. There are also 4 jobs. The Laboratory of Practical Pharmacy No. 5 – “Organization and Economics of Pharmacy”, “Organizations and Economics of Pharmacy” (junior specialists), “Practical Practices on the Organization and Economics of Pharmacy”, “Pharmacoeconomics”, “Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence”, “Pharmaceutical and Medical Commodities” , “History of medicine and pharmacy”, “Management and marketing in pharmacy” and specialization: “Entrepreneurship in pharmacy”, “Organization and regulation of pharmaceutical companies”. There are also 4 jobs created here.
In January 2016, the Center for Clinical Pharmacy, where students of the 5th year of the pharmaceutical faculty have the opportunity to work out practical skills for conducting premenopausal and subcutaneous infections, was organized on the basis of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacology by the Department of Medical and Practical Center “Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy”. Arterial and venous bleeding stops by applying a tourniquet, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and dispensing of first-aid kits (seven types) and algorithms for the provision of first aid for emergency conditions under the program of discipline.
The training of pharmacists in Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University takes place at 19 departments. Among the teachers of the departments, which provide the educational process at the Pharmaceutical Faculty – 25 doctors and 127 candidates of sciences. Issuing departments of the faculty are: Department of Pharmacy, headed by Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor A.R. Grytsyk, Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor I.G. Kupnovytska, Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy and Technology of Drugs, headed by Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Professor D.V. Semenov.
More than 10 departments of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University are the clinical bases of the State Enterprise “State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine”. Each year, INMU scientists conduct clinical studies of the effectiveness and safety of 20-25 drugs mainly domestic production.
